When we opened our Etsy store at the close of 2010 we didn’t know what to expect. Well after our first full year of selling pottery not just on Etsy but period we are thrilled and grateful.
We don’t do the show circuit so Etsy has provided us with an outlet to sell what was originally going to be a way for us to just make presents for family. When I built our potter’s wheel that was the plan. It was something to do with the scrap clay from making tile and a way to give hopefully nice gifts if we could learn to throw. Thanks YouTube! A friend saw our pots and suggested we give Etsy a try.

If you would have told us a few years ago we’d be making pottery for a living I wouldn’t have believed you.
Have a great new year.

Hi Scott, those are truly impressive results, for being on Etsy for only one year!
I’m flabbergasted by it too Meylnn. We had to raise some of our prices as of the 1st. We put our mugs at $20 each, we were selling tons of them but with the extra decorating we do we weren’t making any money for how much time we spent making them.
We do play the game though. Relisting at least 5 items a day. That helps a great deal, it’s the only way you get seen. Basically a $30 a month advertising budget.
Well, whatever you’ve done, it has certainly paid off. And once people see your work, I’m sure it sells itself. Those spiky mugs and dog treat jars are totally original and simply irresistible!
