We spend a couple hours in the studio last night. Angi had a pottery homework assignment, and while she was working on that I made these.
I really like the pear shaped one, it was looking way to much like a bong with a round ball at the bottom and a vertical neck so I pushed the neck out from the bottom up. Angi is sliptrailing it right now. I wanted to put some handles on it but I was getting frustrated trying to make them and said ^&*^(&( #$.
But back to Angi’s homework, one thing about being self taught at pretty much everything we do besides photography is you miss out on some of the basics. Kinda like photoshop which I rock at but there are some simple things that I’m like REALLY?! when I watch someone else. We’re always jumping ahead without a good foundation because we have to. So Angi started taking throwing lessons Friday from Justin Lambert of Live Oak Pottery, he is an incredible potter and is a fantastic teacher. In exchange I’m going to help Justin with a concrete counter-top project. I’ll post photos of her progress, she was already good, she just wants to work of her technique.
