Hey Cindy we work in earthenware right now. We fire to 06-05. We throw with the scrap clay from making tile. When we make tile we work right from the plug and the trimmings go to throwing. Wedging the trimmings changes the water content and can affect the shrinkage thus screwing with the sizes of the tile. We are planing a move to mid fire clay for our tile so the pottery will follow, but we have a cabinet full of commercial glazes.
I love the colors available in low fire and I like turning the feet on the pots as much as throwing and it’s nice to be able to glaze the foot.
